"Why art? Why Los Angeles ? As a USC alum, I strongly feel that Los Angeles is the center of innovation, communication and entertainment. Art is the best medium to achieve world peace. I was distressed to learn about Art Education budget cuts at Los Angeles public schools. For this reason, and on the occasion of India Splendor and the 60th Anniversary of Indian Independence , I am donating to create art programming for children at the elementary school level in public schools in the Greater Los Angeles Area. My Los Angeles based foundation, ArtWallah, will administer the programs starting September 2007."
Dr B.K. Modi is the Chairman of the MCorp Global corporation, which helped to transform the technological landscape of India by pioneering the telecom and cellular telephony revolutions. He is a Global Citizen who secured a Masters in Business Administration at the University of Southern California . He has recently opened an office for MCorp Global and Buddha Films in Beverly Hills . He is personally funding India Splendor, a five-day festival from August 10-15 featuring contemporary Indian Art and Culture in association with the UCLA School of Film, Television and Theatre.
Amanda Pomrenke, spokesperson for ArtWallah stated: "ArtWallah is dedicated to art and dialogue in diverse communities. We will be supplying funds and programming to schools across the Greater Los Angeles are to create art programs. It is our mission to provide children, teachers and parents with artistic tools that will foster creativity and artistic culture."
